2001-02 (Freshman): Collected 27 singles victories his freshman season while attending Michigan, second all-time among Wolverine freshmen (school record is 37 wins by MaliVai Washington in 1987-88) led team in every major singles statistical category 27-11 overall record 18-5 in dual match action (1-0 at No. 2, 9-2 at No. 3 and 8-3 at No. 4) 7-3 mark against Big Ten Conference opponents and 20-7 in region reached 25th win of the season by defeating Iowa's Petar Mandic on three sets, 0-6, 6-4, 6-1 won seven of eight matches from March through April collected seven-consecutive wins to start dual match season posted 3-1 record at the Big Ten Singles Championship, reaching quarterfinals after beating No. 4 Jackie Jenkins of Northwestern in first round reached Round of 16 at ITA Regional Championship led team with 23-7 overall doubles record while playing mostly at the No. 2 doubles position, he posted a 20-4 dual match record and a 7-3 Big Ten mark 13-4 against regional opponents collected Michigan's only victory with Henry Beam against Notre Dame in the NCAA Championship won first 10 matches of his dual match season, not losing a single match from January until March.
