Basketball Billboards on West End and Broadway
11/4/02
Commodore fans will think their basketball teams are larger
than life after they drive by two new billboards off West
End Avenue and Broadway.
The first billboard will be installed Wednesday morning (Nov.
6) and will feature Matt Freije and Chantelle Anderson as
well as the home schedules for both teams. The 50' x 40' image
will be on the Ramada Inn located at 920 Broadway facing westbound
traffic.
The second billboard will feature Russell Lakey and Ashley
McElhiney and will be hung by the middle of the month. The
40' x 20' billboard will be placed on the Baker Building at
West End and 21st Avenue facing West End Avenue.
"We are excited about these opportunities to promote
Commodore Basketball in Nashville," Assistant Athletics
Director of Marketing and Promotions Owen Shull said."
I thought the timing was right for this type of promotion
- Chantelle Anderson and Ashley McElhiney are both seniors
and have raised the level of Commodore Basketball with an
SEC Championship and a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament last
year. Matt Freije and Russell Lakey came in with the first
full recruiting class for Coach Stallings and have set the
tone for our program. We are proud of these student-athletes
and are glad to secure this exposure for their teams."
The women's team hosts the Reebok All-Stars on Sunday (Nov.
10) at 1 pm, while the men's team hosts the Harlem Globetrotters
on Monday (Nov. 11) at 7 pm in Memorial Gym.
