ATHENS,
Georgia (Ticker) -- Jarvis Hayes looks like he is healthy.
Hayes scored 18 points and Ezra Williams added 16,
leading 22nd-ranked Georgia to an 83-70 Southeastern
Conference victory over Vanderbilt.
After playing through a hip flexor injury in late January,
Hayes has flourished in February and overtaken Williams
for the team lead in scoring.
Hayes was key again Saturday, making 7-of-14 shots
from the field. The junior forward is averaging 17.3
points per contest.
Williams, who struggled badly in a loss at No. 3 Kentucky
on Tuesday, rebounded with a solid game as Georgia (14-7,
6-4 SEC East) avoided its third straight loss and improved
to 10-0 in Athens this season.
The Bulldogs also exacted a measure of revenge against
the Commodores after suffering a 94-91 loss in Nashville
on January 29.
Corey Smith netted 14 points and freshman Julian Terrell
13 for the Commodores (10-12, 3-8 East), who fell to
0-9 on the road this season and lost for the 11th straight
time overall away from home.
