_ LaVell Blanchard scored 19 points and Daniel Horton added
17 as Michigan defeated Vanderbilt 70-66 on Saturday.
The victory was the third straight for the Wolverines, who
started the season 0-6.
Brian Thornton led the Commodores (6-3) with 20 points. Mario
Moore added 10.
Michigan took an early 10-1 lead, but Vanderbilt went up
24-21 on a 3-pointer by Adam Payton. Thornton had 14 points
on 6-for-8 shooting in the first half, which ended with the
Commodores leading 32-29.
The Wolverines opened the second half with a 19-5 run capped
by two Lester Abram two free throws. Vanderbilt used an 11-0
run to cut the Wolverines' advantage to 58-57 with just over
5 minutes to go.
