Snedeker Named SEC Golfer of the Week
2/13/03
NASHVILLE,
Tenn. - Vanderbilt's Brandt Snedeker was named SEC Golfer
of the Week after finishing second at the Gator Invitational
this past weekend.
Snedeker, who entered the final day of the Gator Invitational
in a tie for ninth, fired a one-under-par 69 in the final
round to climb to second with a one-over-par score of 211.
His round of 69 tied for the best round of the day, but
it left the senior just one shot short of the top spot.
His performance helped lead Vanderbilt to a tie for fifth
place in the team competition at the Gator Invitational.
The Commodores are No. 22 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin
Team Rankings, rating them fifth in the SEC.
In six tournaments this year, Snedeker still has not finished
worse than third, including winning three consecutive events
in the fall. The Nashville native also is the SEC's top
rated golfer in the 2002-03 Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, rating
second in the nation. Snedeker currently boasts a 69.06
stroke average in 17 rounds.
Snedeker will have a while to savor this honor as he and
the rest of the Commodores do not play again until March
17-18 at the Cleveland Golf Collegiate Championships in
Aiken, S.C.
