Vanderbilt Men's Golf No. 8 in Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings 10/1/02

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt men's golf team climbed to No. 8 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Poll, while two individuals moved into the poll's Top-25.

After claiming the team title at the second annual Mason Rudolph Championship with a school-record 29-under-par three-round score of 811, the Commodores moved from No. 22 to No. 8 in this week's Golfweek/Sagarin Poll. In two tournaments so far this season,Vanderbilt is 17-6 overall, 1-2 against Top-25 teams, 3-4 versus Top-50 teams and 12-6 against Top-100 teams.

Individually, senior Brandt Snedeker moved up from No. 14 to No. 6 after claiming his first collegiate tournament championship with a 12-under-par score of 198 at the Mason Rudolph Championship. This came on the heels of his second-place finish at the Cleveland Golf Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C.

This season, Snedeker is 141-1 overall, 3-0 versus Top-25 players, 7-1 against Top-50 players and 12-1 versus Top-100 competition.

Sophomore Mark Donnell moved up from No. 39 to No. 21 in this week's poll. In his first action of this season, Donnell finished tied for fourth place at the Mason Rudolph Championship with a seven-under-par score of 203. So far, the Mobile, Ala., native is 61-3-1 overall, 0-2 against Top-25 players, 1-2-1 versus Top-50 competition and 2-2-1 against Top-100 players.

Vanderbilt's next action will be Oct. 14-15 at the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
