Men Seventh at Inaugural Mason Rudolph Championships
FRANKLIN, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women finished second and
the Vanderbilt men finished seventh at the inaugural Mason
Rudolph Championships presented by BellSouth played at the
Legends Club of Tennessee.
The
Commodore men shot a 6-over-par 286 in the third round for
a three-round total of 12-over-par 852. Leading the way for
the men's squad was Brandt Snedeker, who finished tied for
third after posting rounds of 73, 66 and 67 for a 4-under-par
206. His second-round 66 is a personal best and ties the school
record originally set by Colby Lamberson April 13, 1993, at
the Bent Brook-Blazer Invitational.
"I
think that we were successful in hosting one of the best tournaments
of the fall season," said Vanderbilt men's golf coach Press
McPhaul. "The course was in great shape and was a good test
for a strong field.
"I
was pleased with how we played down the stretch. We tended
to dig ourselves holes in the beginning of rounds, but I was
proud of how we rebounded to still post good scores. I'm excited
to see what our scores will be when we play to the best of
our ability."
The
remainder of the men's lineup included Mark Donnell (T5th,
208), Jack Skirkanich (T39th, 220), Lance Goodson (T44th,
222) and Craig Dunlap (57th, 228). Vanderbilt individuals
included Jeff Yeckes (T42nd, 221) and Jason Dallas (T56th,
227).
The
Vanderbilt men are back in action October 2-3 at The Adams
Cup in Newport, R.I.
