Finishes Ninth at Atlanta Intercollegiate
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt men's golf team finished
in ninth place with a score of 891 at the Atlanta Intercollegiate
in Stockbridge, Ga. The 54-hole tournament was played
at the Eagle's Landing Country Club (Par 73, 6,899 yards).
As a team, Vanderbilt shot a six-over-par 298 in Friday's
final round to finish the tournament with a score of
five-over-par 881. The score of 881 left the Commodores
in ninth place in the 12-team field that included eight
teams that will be playing in the NCAA Championship
next week.
Individually, senior Brandt Snedeker was Vanderbilt's
top performer as he finished tied for 15th place with
a five-under-par 214. This is just the second time in
12 tournaments this season that Snedeker has not finished
the in the top 10.
Sophomore Lance Goodson was next for the Commodores
as he finished tied for 17th place with a four-under-par
score of 215. Goodson's 17th-place finish is the second
best for him in his past eight tournaments and his score
215 is the second best for him this season.
A pair of sophomores followed in Ben McClung and Mark
Donnell. McClung, who was playing his first tournament
since the Gator Invitational in early February, finished
tied for 44th place with a four-over-par score of 223.
Donnell finished the event in 54th place with an 11-over-par
score of 230.
Rounding out the squad was junior Ken Lewis, who finished
in 61st place with a score of 20-over-par 239.
Vanderbilt is back in action next week as the Commodores
make their first ever trip to the NCAA Championship.
The NCAA East Regional is Thursday through Saturday
in Auburn, Ala.

Vanderbilt Eighth After Second Round at Atlanta

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt men's golf team climbed
two spots to eighth place after the second round at
the Atlanta Intercollegiate in Stockbridge, Ga. The
54-hole tournament, which is being played at the Eagle's
Landing Country Club (Par 73, 6,899 yards), concludes
Friday with the final 18 holes.
In a 12-team field that includes eight teams that will
be playing in the NCAA Championship next week, the Commodores
completed the first day in eighth place. Vanderbilt
shot a four-over-par 296 in round two and then came
back to fire a five-under-par 287 in the second round.
Vanderbilt's 287 in the second round was the fifth-best
second-round score and was a nine-shot improvement over
the Commodores' first round. Heading into Friday's final
18 holes, Vanderbilt has a two-round total of one-under-par
583.
Individually, senior Brandt Snedeker was Vanderbilt's
top performer as he finished the first day tied for
ninth place with a two-round score of six-under-par
140. After posting Vanderbilt's only below-par score
in the first round, Snedeker fired a five-under-par
68 in the second round.
Sophomore Lance Goodson finished tied for 18th place
with a four-under-par score of 142. He put together
rounds of even-par 70 and four-under-par 69 to enter
the final round second for Vanderbilt.
Next for the Commodores was sophomore Mark Donnell,
who finished the first day tied for 45th place with
a four-over-par score of 150. Sophomore Ben McClung,
playing in his first tournament since the Gator Invitational
in early February, enters the final day tied for 52nd
place with a six-over-par score of 152.
Rounding out the Commodore contingent was junior Ken
Lewis, who ended the first day tied for 57th place with
a nine-over-par score of 155.

in 10th place after the first round at the Atlanta Intercollegiate
in Stockbridge, Ga. The 54-hole tournament, which is
being played at the Eagle's Landing Country Club (Par
73, 6,899 yards), continues Thursday afternoon with
the second round and then concludes Friday with the
final 18 holes.
In a 12-team field that includes eight teams that will
be playing in the NCAA Championship next week, the Commodores
finished the first round 10th despite shooting a respectable
four-over-par score of 296. Vanderbilt had balanced
scoring in the first 18 holes with all five Commodore
golfers finishing within four strokes of each other.
They enter this afternoon's second round just nine strokes
out of the top five.
Individually, senior Brandt Snedeker was Vanderbilt's
top performer as he carded a one-under-par score of
72 to finish the first round tied for 24th place. He
was followed closely by sophomore Lance Goodson, who
finished the first round tied for 30th place with an
even-par 73. Goodson shot a 39 on the front side, but
then rebounded to fire a 34 on the back nine.
Junior Ken Lewis was third for Vanderbilt as he finished
the first 18 holes tied for 40th place with a two-over-par
score of 75.
Rounding out the Vanderbilt squad were sophomores Mark
Donnell and Ben McClung. Both Donnell and McClung recorded
three-over-par scores of 76 to finish tied for 48th
place. For McClung, it was his first competitive round
since finishing tied for 55th place at the Gator Invitational
in early February.
