Sixth, Snedeker Fifth at Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt men's golf team finished
sixth with an 884 at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate in
Auburn, Ala. On the strength of a tournament record 277 in
the second round, UAB claimed the team title at the Saugahatchee
Country Club (Par 72, 6,689 yards).
After posting a score of 296 in Friday's first round and
a nine-over-par 297 Saturday, the Commodores carded the best
final round Sunday, a three-over-par 291. Vanderbilt's three-round
20-over-par 884 left the Commodores in sixth place, but just
eight strokes out of the top spot in the 15-team field.
Individually, senior Brandt Snedeker led Vanderbilt with
a tie for fifth place. His two-under-par 70 on Sunday was
the second-best final round score and gave him a three-round
total of one-under-par 215. Snedeker has now recorded eight
top-five finishes and nine top-10 finishes in 10 tournaments
this season.
Next up for Vanderbilt was sophomore Lance Goodson, who fired
an even-par 72 Sunday to finish in a tie for 18th place with
a five-over-par 215. Finishing in a tie for 32nd place was
senior Craig Dunlap, who carded a three-round score of 10-over-par
226.
Rounding out the Commodore squad were junior Ken Lewis and
sophomore Mark Donnell. Lewis shot a 77 Sunday to finish tied
for 35th place with an 11-over-par score of 227. Donnell posted
a 76 Sunday to finish tied for 44th place with a three-round
mark of 13-over-par 229.
The Commodores will now take off a couple of weeks as they
prepare for the SEC Championship, which will be played April
25-27 in Sea Island, Ga.

Vanderbilt Men's Golf Remains in Fifth
After Second Round at Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt men's golf team remained
in fifth place after the second round at the Billy Hitchcock
Intercollegiate in Auburn, Ala. The 54-hole tournament, which
is being played at the Saugahatchee Country Club (Par 72,
6,689 yards), concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes.
After posting a score of 296 in Friday's first round, the
Commodores came back with a nine-over-par 297 Saturday to
finish the first 36 holes with a score of 593. That score
of 593 kept Vanderbilt in fifth place in the 12-team field
and leaves the Dores just six shots out of second place.
Individually, senior Brandt Snedeker leads the Vanderbilt
contingent as he put together rounds of even-par 72 and one-over-par
73 to finish the first two rounds in a tie for ninth place.
Heading into the final round, Snedeker is just six strokes
off the individual lead.
Next up for Vanderbilt is sophomore Lance Goodson, who is
in a tie for 23rd place with a five-over-par 149. He is followed
closely by junior Ken Lewis, who is tied for 29th place with
a six-over-par 150.
Rounding out the Commodore squad are senior Craig Dunlap
and sophomore Mark Donnell, who are both tied for 42nd place
with nine-over-par scores of 153.

Saturday with the second round and then concludes Sunday with
the final 18 holes.
As a team, the Commodores finished the first day fifth in
the 12-team field after shooting an eight-over-par 296. They
are just four strokes out of second place and only nine shots
from the lead.
Individually, senior Brandt Snedeker and junior Ken Lewis
lead Vanderbilt after they each carded rounds of even-par
72 to finish the first day tied for eighth place. Snedeker
shot a 35 on the first nine and then a 37 on the back nine,
while Lewis was the opposite as he posted a 38 on the front
side and then a 34 on the back nine.
Sophomores Lance Goodson and Mark Donnell were next for the
Commodores as they each recorded rounds of four-over-par 76
to finish the first day tied for 31st place. Goodson posted
a 37 on the first nine and then a 39 on the back nine, while
Donnell showed consistency with scores of 38 on both sides.
Rounding out the Vanderbilt squad was senior Craig Dunlap,
who finished tied for 51st with a seven-over-par 79.
