| Men's
Golf Finishes Fourth at Oregon Duck Invitational
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt men's golf team jumped
five spots in the final round to finish tied for fourth place
with a 10-over-par score of 874 at the Oregon Duck Invitational
in Eugene, Ore. Arizona and Washington tied for the top spot
in the tournament, which was played at the Eugene Country
Club (Par 72, 6,854 yards).
After posting team rounds of 295 in each of the first two
rounds, Vanderbilt recorded a score of four-under-par 284
Tuesday. The 284 was the best final-round performance in the
16-team field and is the Commodores' best performance in the
past 13 rounds dating back to the 282 they shot Oct. 21 at
the Tennessee Tournament of Champions. The fourth-place finish
also is the team's best performance in the past four tournaments
and is the third-best this season.
For the seventh time in as many tournaments this season,
Brandt Snedeker led Vanderbilt individually. The senior entered
the final round in a tie for 21st place, but shot a five-under-par
67 Tuesday to climb to the seventh spot with a three-round
score of three-under-par 213. This is the first time this
season Snedeker has finished out of the top three, coming
up five shots short of the top three and six shots short of
first place.
Following closely behind Snedeker was sophomore Mark Donnell,
who finished tied for eighth place with a one-under-par score
of 215. This is the second consecutive top-10 finish and second
straight below-par performance for Donnell after he fired
a one-under-par 141 to finish in a tie for sixth place this
past week at the rain-shortened Cleveland Golf Collegiate
Championship.
Sophomore Lance Goodson was next for the Commodores as he
finished tied for 28th after posting a five-over-par 215.
On the strength of a final-round 72, senior Craig Dunlap climbed
14 spots to finish tied for 58th with a 10-over-par 226. Rounding
out the Commodore squad was senior Jason Dallas, who finished
80th with an 18-over-par 234.
