Vanderbilt's Snedeker Wins Third Consecutive Tournament

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Vanderbilt's Brandt Snedeker won his third consecutive tournament and the Commodores tied for third as a team Tuesday at the Tennessee Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions in Knoxville, Tenn. The Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions is being played at the par-72, 6,932-yard Holston Hills Country Club.

Snedeker claimed medalist honors after firing a 12-under-par 204 to finish one shot ahead of Tennessee's Davis Skinns. After shooting rounds of 69 and 66 Monday, the Nashville native carded a three-under-par 69 to close out the tournament. Snedeker has now carded eight consecutive rounds in the 60s and 10 of his 11 rounds this season have been below par.

Snedeker's only over-par round was a three-over-par 75 in the final round at the Cleveland Golf/Kiawah Island Invitational. The final-round 75 dropped Snedeker to second place by one shot, otherwise he could claim tournament victories in all four events this fall. Snedeker entered this season having never claimed a tournament title.

As a team, Vanderbilt posted a final-round 293 to finish tied with College of Charleston for third place with a 10-under-par 854. The five-over-par final round is the Commodores' first over-par round in the past three tournaments and eight rounds.

Also finishing strong for Vanderbilt was sophomore Lance Goodson, who posted a three-round two-under-par 214 to tie for 12th place. Senior Craig Dunlap just missed his second top-20 finish after tying for 23rd place with a two-over-par 218.

Sophomores Mark Donnell and Ben McClung rounded out the Vanderbilt contingent. Donnell finished tied for 32nd with a four-over-par 220, while McClung shot a six-over-par 222 to finish tied for 39th place.

Vanderbilt is back in action November 4-5 at The Prestige in Palm Springs, Calif.

The Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions is being played at the par-72, 6,932-yard Holston Hills Country Club.

The Commodores fired rounds of six-under-par 282 and nine-under-par 279 to finish the first 36 holes with a 15-under-par score of 561. Individually, Snedeker continues his torrid pace with rounds of three-under-par 69 and six-under-par 66 to complete his first day with a nine-under-par 135. He is tied with Tennessee's David Skinns and College of Charleston's Bruce McDonald for first place and the trio has a two-shot advantage on the field. The senior from Nashville has now carded seven consecutive rounds in the 60s and nine of his 10 rounds this season have been below par.

Senior Craig Dunlap and sophomore Lance Goodson were the next finishers for Vanderbilt as they both posted two-under-par scores of 142 to finish tied for 14th place.

Sophomore Mark Donnell is beginning to get back to playing the solid golf that the Commodores were counting on entering the season. Donnell finished the first day tied for 23rd place with an even-par 144. Sophomore Ben McClung rounded out the Vanderbilt competitors, finishing tied for 28th with a two-over-par score of 146.
