Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Named to Golf World's Top 10 March 29, 1999 Rudolph was ranked No. 10 after winning the 1949 USGA National Junior Championships and finished as the runner-up the following year. At age 16, Rudolph was the youngest player to win the prestigious tournament. After his success as a junior golfer, Rudolph put together a 21-year career on the PGA Tour, including Rookie of the Year honors in 1960, six Tour victories, 16 U.S. Opens and 15 Masters. He also helped the U.S. capture international championships in the Ryder and Walker Cups. For all of his accomplishments, Rudolph was elected as a charter inductee into the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame and in February 1995, he was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. Heading Golf World's top-10 list was Tiger Woods, followed by Bobby Jones, Eddie Pearce, Jack Nicklaus, Chick Evans, Ken Venturi, Mike Brannan, Willie Wood and Phil Mickelson.
