Men's Golf 8th at Pepperdine STRATA Invitational October 12, 1999 John Pitt was the star for the Commodores, finishing third after firing a 1-under-par 215. The junior from Wilmington, N.C. posted a 74 in the first round and a 73 in round three, but sandwiched in a 68 in round two. The 68 is the best round of the year for Vanderbilt, eclipsing the rounds of 69 posted by Pitt at the Cavalier Classic and freshman Brandt Snedeker at the Windon Memorial. Ned Michaels also had a strong showing as he put together an 8-over-par 224 to finish tied for 18th. Snedeker continued his strong play, firing a 12-over-par 228 to finish tied for 32nd while Hans Sherman shot a 236 to finish 54th. Ryan Grant shots rounds of 78 and 76 in rounds one and three respectively, but was given no place after withdrawing from the second round.
