Mens
and Womens Cross Country Prepare for
SEC Championships
NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Vanderbilt Mens and Womens
Cross Country
teams head to Gainesville, Fla., this weekend for Monday mornings
SEC
Championships. The conference meet will take place at the UF
Golf
Course on the campus of the University of Florida. The women's
6k race
is slated to begin at 8 a.m. CT, while the men's 8k race will
begin at 9 a.m.
CT.
Leading the way for the Commodores are junior John Cote and
freshman
Erika Schneble. Cote has been the mens top runner in three
out of five
meets this season. Schneble has placed either first or second
for
Vanderbilt this season in every race she has competed.
On the men's side, defending SEC Champion Arkansas is the favorite
going into Mondays meet. The Arkansas men have captured
12 straight
SEC titles and 29 straight conference titles, including the
Razorbacks
prior membership in the Southwest Conference.
For the womens event, the Lady Razorbacks are also the
favorite. They
are looking to earn their fifth straight SEC title and ninth
championship
overall.
FOX Sports Net South will recap the 2002 SEC Cross Country
Championships on SEC-TV Weekly. The show, which airs Thursday,
Nov.
7 at 5:30 p.m. CT, will take a look back at all of the action
from this year's
championship.
