Allen
and Schmucker Earn Lacrosse Postseason Honors 5/28/03
NASHVILLE,
Tenn. - The efforts of two Vanderbilt lacrosse players were
recognized today as Michelle Allen and Tara Schmucker have
both earn postseason honors.
Allen, a junior attacker from Eldersburg, Md., was named
Third-Team All-America and Second-Team All South Region after
leading the Commodores in points (52), assists (23), shots
on goal (73) and ground balls (54). Allen also finished among
the team leaders in goals (29), caused turnovers
(15) and draw controls (21) en route to being named First-Team
All-Conference. Allen becomes just the third Commodore to
earn All-America honors.
Schmucker,
a senior midfielder from Jamison, Pa., was named Second-Team
All South Region after finishing among the team leaders in
ground balls (39), caused turnovers (16) and draw controls
(14). Schmucker, who earned First-Team All-Conference recognition
this season, was a team captain her last two years and was
often given the task of marking the opponent's top attacker.
She also was named to the South All-Region squad as a midfielder
last season.
