Lewis, Schmucker Named Regional All-Americans 5/17/02

VanderbiltÕs Megan Lewis and Tara Schmucker have both been named to the 2002 Division I Intercollegiate WomenÕs Lacrosse Coaches Association/US Lacrosse South Region All-America Team. Lewis, a senior defender from Edgewater, Maryland, was named to the first-team this season, after being a second-team honoree last year. Schmucker, a junior midfielder from Jamison, Pennsylvania, earned a place on the second team.

Lewis, a four-year starter and 2002 tri-captain, has anchored the Commodore defense during her time at Vanderbilt. She has led the team in caused turnovers the past three seasons and in ground balls two of the last three years. She was also named to the inaugural All-Conference team in the American Lacrosse Conference.

Schmucker, also a tri-captain in 2002, is a leader on both sides of the field for Vanderbilt. This season, she was second on the team in caused turnovers and ground balls, while also finishing third in goals and draw controls. Schmucker was named ALC Player-of-the-Week in late April for her play against Ohio State.
