4/23/02
For
her play against Ohio State this past weekend, sophomore Jess
Roguski was named an honorable mention Player-of-the-Week
by insidelacrosse.com. It is the first such weekly, national
honor for the Commodores.
Roguski,
a midfielder from Eldersburg, Maryland, won eight draws in
the game and helped Vanderbilt gain a 16-9 edge on the draw.
Roguski also scored three goals in the game, her fifth hat-trick
of the season. She is second on the team in goals and points,
and ranks 12th in the nation in draw controls per game (2.67).
Last season, Roguski broke the Vanderbilt record for draw
controls, earning 40 in 16 games. Her single-game high for
draw controls is 11, reached last season against Virginia
Tech.
Sunday's victory clinched the American Lacrosse Conference
regular season title for the Commodores, who are currently
5-0 in conference play. Remaining for Vanderbilt are #5 Virginia,
#9 Notre Dame and ALC foe Northwestern.
