Lacrosse Cruises by Davidson, 17-4 4/13/03
NASHVILLE,
Tenn. - The Vanderbilt women's lacrosse team dominated
their conference match-up on Sunday afternoon, as they
defeated Davidson, 17-4, at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse
Complex. With the win, the Commodores improve their
record to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the American Lacrosse
Conference, while the Wildcats fall to 0-12 overall
and 0-5 in the conference.
With a fierce start presented by Vanderbilt's attack
line, the Commodores would strike with four goals in
the first two minutes of action. Vanderbilt's offense
would continue to dominate the remainder of the match,
coming up with numerous draw controls, causing numerous
turnovers and scoring numerous goals. Vanderbilt would
lead by eight at the end of the first period and increase
that lead to 13 by the end of the contest.
With a lineup that rotated much like a state fair's
ferris-wheel, head coach Cathy Swezey was able to get
every Vanderbilt player into the contest. The depth
the team possesses would show on Sunday, as each player
made a contribution to the game.
Commodore goalkeepers, Ashley Bastinelli and Liz Exline,
both faired well Sunday, as they combined for twelve
saves, while surrendering only four goals. The diverse
pool of Vanderbilt scorers showed that the Commodores
can receive offense from several players.

Vanderbilt is on the road next weekend to compete against
ALC foes Ohio and
Ohio State on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The Commodores
next home game is at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 27, against
the University of Virginia.
