Notre Dame in Home Opener

Nashville, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt Commodore women's lacrosse team returned home from seven straight games on the road opening the season to defeat the Fightin' Irish of Notre Dame 20-13 at Vanderbilt Stadium. The Commodores improve to 5-3 on the year while Notre Dame falls to 2-1.
Vanderbilt jumped out to a 7-0 lead by the 13 minute mark, but Notre Dame came back with a furious rally to close the gap to four at 12-8 by halftime. The first part of the second half was closely contested as they two teams traded goals before Vanderbilt pulled away at the 16:30 mark and shut the Irish offense down for the next 15 minutes.
Leading the Commodores in scoring was sophomore Susan Napolitano who had five goals and four assists. She was followed by classmate Kristin Ehst, who tallied six goals and one assist on the afternoon. Leading the way for Notre Dame was Stephanie Fox who score four goals.
Vanderbilt will return to action on Saturday, March 22, when they host two-time defending national champion Maryland at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Field. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
