#14 Women's Lacrosse Falls to #6 Duke, 17-9

NASHVILLE- Duke broke open a 6-6 halftime tie with five straight goals over a period of 5:55. and raced to a 17-8 win on Friday afternoon in Nashville. Courtney Rodgers scored five goals and added two assists, and Tricia Martin scored for goals and added five assists to lead Duke (4-1). Shannon Chaney made nine saves in the win.

VU was able to stay close to Duke for the first thirty minutes. After trailing 4-1 with 14:04 to go in the first, Vanderbilt roared back to outscore Duke 5-2 over the last 11:59 of the period. April Tellam led the Commodores in scoring with four goals, and Kristin Ehst and Sarah Odell each had two for Vanderbilt (3-3). Emily Lough and Shana Crabtree combined to make 10 saves.

Vanderbilt will open a three-game road trip next Friday at New Hampshire at 3:30 p.m. ET (2:30 p.m. CT). VU returns home on Saturday, April 3, with a 12:00 noon contest against #15 Delaware.
