UConn won the toss and elected to receive - VU will defend the north endzone

" DT Ralph McKenzie earned his first start of his career
" CB Dominique Morris was back in the starting lineup for the first time since the Ole Miss game. He started the first four games and was then replaced by Cheron Thompson in the next three contests.
" Brandon Walthour numbered his first interception of his career in the second quarter.
" Erik Davis recorded a career-long 31-yard punt return which is also a team season-high. The previous high was 16 yards by Ronald Hathcher in the Georgia Tech game.
" Matthew Tant recorded a career-long 40 yard rush in the second quarter. His previous high was 20 yards vs. Furman. In the third quarter, he recorded a career-long 15-yard reception. His previous high was eight yards.
" Kwane Doster moved into 3rd place on the VU All-Time Freshman Rushing List with 542 yards. In today's game, he surpassed Jared McGrath (5th, 491 yards), Jimmy Williams (4th, 527 yards), Cliff Deese ( 3rd, 538 yards). He is 67 yards shy of moving into second place (Rodney Williams, 608 yards). Carl Woods leads the list with 644 yards.
" Doster has rushed for at least 100 yards in three games, including today vs. UConn ( 109 yards); Ole Miss (101 yards) and Georgia (118). His three 100-yard games are second among Vanderbilt freshmen - Rodney Williams leads the list with four in 1998.
" Vanderbilt's first lead of the game came on the opening drive of the second half - 10 plays, 76 yards, 6:14 - In that drive, Doster totaled 37 yards rushing.
" The Commodores totaled at least 200 rushing yards for the second consecutive week - VU totaled 221 yards on 51 rushes vs. UConn and totaled 234 yards on 44 rushes last weekend vs. Georgia.
" Dan Stricker moved into 11th place on the All-Time SEC Career Reception List with 168 catches. He surpassed Josh Reed of LSU with 167 receptions. He moved into 6th place on the SEC All-Time Receiving Yard List with 2,716 yards. He surpassed Wendell Davis of LSU who totaled 2,708 yards.
" Jonathan Shaub's 30-yard interception return is the longest of the season for the Commodores. It is also Shaub's second pick of the season.
" VU is now 25-29-3 in homecoming games.
" This was the first come-from-behind victory win in the final two minutes for the Commodores since VU overcame a 28-3 deficit against Northern Illinois, Sept. 11, 1999. The Commodores scored 31 second half points capped by Jimmy Williams 65-yard punt return at the 1:41 mark to win the game.

TEAM NOTES
* Terry Caulley's eight-yard TD run at 7:22 on the first quarter was UConn's third first quarter score of the year. Shaun Feldeisen had a TD catch at Boston College and Cliff Hill caught a TD pass against Ball State. UConn has now been outscored 62-23 in the first quarter of games this year
* This is the first time UConn has led after the first quarter since holding a 6-0 advantage after the opening stanza at Boston College on Aug. 31.
* Terry Caulley's second touchdown run of the day was UConn's 11th rushing TD of the season, eclipsing its 2001 season total of 10 rushing TDs.
* With M.J. Garrett's fourth quarter TD, it marks the first time all year that UConn has given up a fourth quarter score in consecutive games (Temple's Tanardo Sharps had a 26-yard TD run last week).
* Vanderbilt scored 14 points on UConn in the fourth quarter today. In its previous seven games, UConn had allowed just 15 fourth quarter points.
* UConn's 80-yard fourth quarter scoring drive was its eighth of 80 yards or longer this season.
* UConn was 1-of-11 on third down conversions today while Vanderbilt was 5-for-14. The team that has converted better on third down has won each of UConn's eight games this year.
* It is UConn's second ever game against a SEC school, falling 45-14 at Kentucky on Sept. 11, 1999 behind a 34-for-40 passing performance for 339 yards by Dusty Bonner.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
* Junior WR O'Neil Wilson made his first start of the season and the fifth of his career.
* Terry Caulley's first TD run was his fifth of the year, coming in the team's eighth game of the year and his sixth. Last year, Taber Small led the Huskies with four TD runs for the entire season.
* It is Caulley's second two-TD rushing effort of the year. The true freshman also ran for a pair of touchdowns in UConn's 37-19 win over Ohio on Sept. 21.
* Jason Williams' 53-yard reception is a career long He previously had caught a 32 yarder at Buffalo on Sept. 14.
* Dan Orlovsky has thrown a TD pass in every game this year.
* Tommy Collins has caught a TD pass in five of UConn's eight games this year, including each of the last three. He entered the year with just four career TD receptions.
* With his 237 passing yards today, Dan Orlovsky became the eighth Husky ever to throw for at least 3,000 yards in his career.
