| Turner
on CBS-TV Show Sunday 4/3/03
Vanderbilt
Director of Athletics Todd Turner will appear on national
television Sunday (April 6) to speak on the NCAA’s current
academic reform movement.
Turner was in Indianapolis earlier this week to record an
interview with Cal State-Fullerton President Dr. Milton Gordon
and CBS sportscaster Armen Keteyian. The “NCAA Bridge
Show” is a CBS production in conjunction with the NCAA
and precedes the network’s coverage of “The Road
to the Final Four”. The program will be televised 11:00
a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (CT).
The interview on academic reform is just one of the topics
that will be covered during the program.
Turner, in his seventh year at Vanderbilt, is the chairman
of one of four national committees investigating ways to encourage
and improve academic performance in collegiate athletics.
Turner’s committee is studying various incentives and
disincentives toward this goal. Vanderbilt Chancellor Gordon
Gee and Turner have emerged as national leaders in championing
academic integrity.
In the event CBS would preempt the show for its war coverage,
the program will be aired by TNN.
