Vanderbilt’s Black & Gold Scrimmage is Free This Saturday, Fans Attending Get Free Admission to VU Baseball Later in Day

Nashville, Tenn. - Vanderbilt fans attending the free Black & Gold Scrimmage this Saturday can also watch the Commodore baseball team at no charge.

Coupons for free admission to Vanderbilt’s Southeastern Conference baseball game against Ole Miss will be distributed to Commodore fans attending the Black & Gold Scrimmage in Vanderbilt Stadium.

The Black & Gold Scrimmage is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. The VU-Ole Miss baseball game will begin at 4:00 p.m., at Hawkins Field located next to Vanderbilt Stadium. The baseball game is part of Vanderbilt’s first home conference series.

"This is a great promotion for fans of Vanderbilt athletics,” Football Head Coach Bobby Johnson said. “I would love to see a big crowd of Commodore fans watching the progress of our squad, then walk over and fill Hawkins Field to support of the baseball team. I think Coach (Tim) Corbin is doing a great job and has his team playing exciting baseball.”

Corbin’s baseball squad, scheduled to host Lipscomb University Wednesday, is currently 11-8 overall, and 1-2 in the SEC. Last weekend, the Commodores won one of three games at No. 10 Mississippi State.

The promotion also extends to food and beverages for both activities. All concessions will be discounted to $1 throughout the day.

The free admission to Hawkins Field is in effect depending on ticket availability.

Stadium gates near the intersection of Jess Neely Drive and Natchez Trace will open at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Commodore and team cheerleaders will greet visitors at the football stadium.
