Black & Gold Scrimmage is Free This Saturday, Fans Attending
Get Free Admission to VU Baseball Later in Day
Nashville,
Tenn. - Vanderbilt fans attending the free Black & Gold
Scrimmage this Saturday can also watch the Commodore baseball
team at no charge.
Coupons for free admission to Vanderbilt’s Southeastern
Conference baseball game against Ole Miss will be distributed
to Commodore fans attending the Black & Gold Scrimmage
in Vanderbilt Stadium.
The Black & Gold Scrimmage is scheduled to start at 2:00
p.m. The VU-Ole Miss baseball game will begin at 4:00 p.m.,
at Hawkins Field located next to Vanderbilt Stadium. The baseball
game is part of Vanderbilt’s first home conference series.
"This is a great promotion for fans of Vanderbilt athletics,”
Football Head Coach Bobby Johnson said. “I would love
to see a big crowd of Commodore fans watching the progress
of our squad, then walk over and fill Hawkins Field to support
of the baseball team. I think Coach (Tim) Corbin is doing
a great job and has his team playing exciting baseball.”
Corbin’s
baseball squad, scheduled to host Lipscomb University Wednesday,
is currently 11-8 overall, and 1-2 in the SEC. Last weekend,
the Commodores won one of three games at No. 10 Mississippi
State.
The promotion also extends to food and beverages for both
activities. All concessions will be discounted to $1 throughout
the day.
The free admission to Hawkins Field is in effect depending
on ticket availability.
Stadium gates near the intersection of Jess Neely Drive and
Natchez Trace will open at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Commodore and team
cheerleaders will greet visitors at the football stadium.
