Vanderbilt Frosh Recruits,
Walk-ons To Report Monday; First Frosh Practice Wednesday,
Full Squad Arrives Friday 8/5/02
Twenty-one
freshmen signees and up to six walk-on prospects are expected
to arrive on the Vanderbilt campus today in preparation for
the start of preseason practice Wednesday.
A complete facelift of the Commodore
football program will greet the incoming freshmen and walk-ons.
The coaching staff directed by Bobby Johnson, weightroom and
McGugin practice complex are all new to the program this fall.
More than 70 veterans will report
Friday, with the first full-squad practice scheduled Saturday
afternoon. Full-squad two-a-day practices start Monday, August
12.
Coach Johnson is looking forward
to the team’s arrival, and looking forward to beginning with
conditioning and other preparations for the August 31 season
opener at Georgia Tech.
“We’re excited about getting
the kids on campus and really getting a close look at what
they can do,” Johnson said. “As a staff, we’re ready to get
the preseason underway and get started coaching.”
