Vanderbilt is 81-25-4 in home openers. In the last 10 home
opners, they are 4-6. The Commodores have also lost their
last four openers at Vanderbilt Stadium. VU’s last win in
a home opener was 29-12 over North Texas in 1997. Furman is
VU’s third I-AA opponent in the last 10 years (the squad beat
The Citadel 58-0 in 1999 and Richmond 28-22 last year.

FACES FORMER SQUAD IN VANDERBILT STADIUM OPENER Vanderbilt
Head Coach Bobby Johnson faces his former players and coaching
associates Saturday when the Commodores host Furman University.
Johnson served as head coach of the Paladins for eight years,
achieving an impressive 60-36 overall record before accepting
the Vanderbilt position.
