NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Corey Jenkins
passed for 180 yards and ran for 97 and a touchdown as South
Carolina handed Vanderbilt a 12th consecutive Southeastern
Conference defeat, 20-14.
The Commodores led, 14-10, after Jay Cutler completed an
11-yard toss to M.J. Garrett with 8:58 remaining in the third
quarter. But Jenkins capped an 11-play, 75-yard drive with
a 12-yard run to put the Gamecocks back on top with 4:05 to
play in the period.
Daniel Weaver's 29-yard field goal with 1:41 to go in the
fourth quarter provided the final margin.
Jenkins completed 15-of-21 passes with one interception for
South Carolina (3-2, 1-1 SEC East), which won its second straight
game following consecutive losses to Virginia and SEC rival
Georgia.
Cutler was 10-of-19 for 105 yards, two touchdowns and one
interception for the Commodores (1-4, 0-3), who defeated Kentucky
in their penultimate game of the 2000 season but have not
won in the SEC since.
South Carolina outgained Vanderbilt, 398-241, and held the
ball for nearly 34 1/2 minutes en route to their 10th win
in 12 all-time meetings against the Commodores.
