Prospects
Prospects Hatcher switched positions in the spring, going
to tailback from receiver, and finds himself with a chance
to start in the Commodore backfield. Explosive and elusive,
Hatcher has superb quickness and has improved his strength.
2001
Played all 11 games, including a start vs. Auburn... Was Commodores’
top returner of kickoffs (20.5 avg.) and punts (7.1 avg.)...
Team high 43-yard KO return came in season opener... Also
caught 10 passes for 117 yards... Helped lead VU comeback
win over Richmond with three catches for 61 yards, including
career long of 54 yards... Had 18-yard catch versus Kentucky.
2000
Played in every game as return specialist... Ranked sixth
in the SEC with 9.4 yards per return... Caught two passes
for 19 yards as RB.
High School
Two-time All-State player in football... Rushed for more than
1,500 yards as a senior, averaging more than 10 yards per
carry... Scored 37 touchdowns his junior and senior years...
Team was two-time 6A state semifinalists and won three straight
area championships... Teammate of former Commodore WR Everett
Robinson and former Alabama LB Saleem Rasheed... As a two-time
All-State baseball player, batted .400 with 15 HRs as junior,
.385 and nine HRs as senior... National Merit Scholarship
Semifinalist and member of National Honor Society... Vice
president of FCA chapter.
