Prospects
Enters season in the mix for playing time at fullback and
lettering two years at inside linebacker. Asked to change
position to offense when Commodore coaches announced move
to two-back I-formation. Adam’s hard-nosed blocking ability
should be an asset in new system.
2001
Concluded second season of action at inside linebacker with
starts versus Kentucky and Tennessee... Credited with 32 tackles,
included 23 solo stops... Career high nine-tackle effort came
in road win over Duke... In opener, came off the bench to
record seven tackles against Middle Tennessee... Also recorded
seven tackles against Florida.
2000
Replaced All-SEC performer Jamie Winborn in the starting lineup
at inside linebacker for first two games... Achieved career-high
seven tackles in opener versus Miami (OH)... Was hampered
for five games with sprained shoulder.
1999
Played in the final 10 games of the season... Third-leading
tackler among freshmen with five... In several games, including
thrilling 37-34 victory at Ole Miss, Adam saw action as blocking
fullback in goal-line situations.
High School
Entered Vanderbilt as heavily recruited two-sport star...
Played FB and LB in high school, recruited to play offense
by most universities... Named to CNN/SI All-Midwest team...
All-state, all region, all-district and all-conference selection
in football... Also captured state individual championship
in the shot put, with a best throw surpassing 60 feet... Ran
on 4x100-meter relay team that established school record...
A vice president of his class, Adam was a member of the Student
Senate and the Honor Roll.
Academics
Adam is on schedule to graduate this May in Human and Organizational
Development, with an emphasis on the leadership track. An
All-SEC Honor Roll selection in 2001.
Personal
Son of Anton and Dianne Adam... Born August 5, 1980... His
brother, Daniel, played football at Harvard and father played
football at Michigan Tech... Grew up a Green Bay Packers’
fan... One of the Commodores’ true free spirits, travels around
campus on a vintage Harley-Davidson... Received first motorcycle
as a 15-year-old... Also enjoys music, and can play the guitar
and saxophone, frequently playing music with RB Ian Gaines...
Has long-time rivalry with VU FB Chris Mitacek, who played
with arch-rival in Wisconsin high school conference... Rooms
with DT Brett Beard.
