Women Sixth, Men 10th
at SEC Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Vanderbilt cross country teams competed Saturday at the SEC Cross Country Championships with the women finishing sixth (202) and the men 10th (308).
Leading the way for the women's squad was Stacey Carpenter, who finished 19th in a time of 18:14.27 on the 5K course. Carpenter has led the Commodores in all of the events she has competed in this season.
Rounding out the scoring for the Vanderbilt women were Beth Van Dusen (36th, 18:47.17), Kim Trenbath (48th, 19:07.21), Lauren Price (49th, 19:07.42), Kelly Howisey (50th, 19:08.89) and Colleen Byrne (51st, 19:10.07).
The men were led by Mark Rosenthal, who covered the 8K course in a time of 28:24.45 for a 54th-place finish.
Closing out the scoring for the Dores were David Scales (56th, 28:54.61), Michael Brookshire (63rd, 29:13.34), Michael Masterson (67th, 29:49.29), Tony Ferranti (68th, 30:11.45) and Chris Oksala (69th, 30:41.63).
Claiming top team honors for both the men's and women's championships was Arkansas. The women's score was 25 while the men's score totaled 19. Individually, Arkansas' Amy Yoder took top honors for the women and Arkansas' Michael Power finished first for the men.
