Vanderbilt Making
First SEC Tournament Appearance Since 1996
The Vanderbilt Commodores (27-26, 14-16 SEC) make
their first appearance at the Southeastern Conference
Tournament in seven seasons, Wednesday, May 21, when
they take on Auburn (38-17, 18- 12 SEC) at 10:00 a.m.
CT at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
Vanderbilt qualified in dramatic fashion Sunday when
Worth Scott hit a two-run walk-off home run inside the
right-field foul pole to give the Commodores a 6-5 victory
and three-game sweep of Tennessee.
Coupled with Kentucky’s 7-5 upset of Florida
on Sunday the Commodores qualify as the second-place
team from the SEC Eastern Division. The Commodores enter
the tournament as a sixth seed because of their 2-1
series win over LSU (April 18-20). Alabama and Arkansas
lost its series with the Tigers. Auburn is the third
seed.
