• Roy Mewbourne needs one win to register his 650th victory
as head coach at Vanderbilt. The 24-year Commodore skipper
earned his 900th career win earlier this year against West
Virginia (2/16).
• The Vanderbilt pitching staff has allowed only six earned
runs in its last two games (17 innings) for a 3.18 ERA. Commodore
hurlers had given up 46 earned runs in the previous five games
(39 innings) for a 10.62 ERA.
• Commodore bats have cooled off the past two games, however,
accounting for only 10 hits and eight runs scored. In the
previous five games the Vanderbilt offense recorded 63 hits
and 46 runs scored.
• Chris Broadus is hitting .370 (10-of-27) during his current
seven-game hit streak, the longest of his VU career. He has
five RBI and nine runs scored during the streak.
• Third baseman Cesar Nicolas has committed only one error
in his last 22 games (since 3/13- Belmont). He committed eight
errors in his first 14 games of the year.
