The Middle Tenneessee Series Vanderbilt leads the
all-time series with Middle Tennessee 72-34 dating back to
1926. The two teams split a pair of meetings last season with
Middle Tennessee winning, 19- 3, in Murfreesboro and Vanderbilt
winning, 9-8, in Nashille a month later. Commodore pitchers
allowed a season-high 22 hits against the Blue Radiers in
the first meeting.Former Commodore Ashley Freeman hit a three-run
homer and senior Chris Broadus hit a two- RBI double to spark
the Commodores to the victory in Nashville. Vanderbilt has
won seven of the last 10 games in the series.
Who’s Hot
• Vanderbilt’s offense has posted 49 runs on 69 hits, nine
doubles and nine home runs over the last six games. The Commodores
have hit at least one home run in each of their last four
games and 11 in their last 10 games.
• Sean Luellwitz is batting .533 (16-for-30) with five doubles,
two home runs and 13 RBI during his current eight-game hit
streak. The hit streak is tied for the longest of his career
and leads all VU hitters this season. He leads the team with
19 multi-hit games and 13 multi- RBI games.
• Chris Broadus is hitting .391 (9-of-23) during his current
six-game hit streak, the longest of his VU career. He has
five RBI and seven runs scored during the streak.
• John Kaye has homered in each of the last three games for
the Commodores and is tied with Luellwitz for team-high honors.
He hit a towering home run over the scoreboard in right field
at McKethan Stadium last weekend at Florida in Sunday’s 7-3
loss to the Gators.
• Third baseman Cesar Nicolas has not committed an error in
his last 21 games (since 3/13-Belmont). He committed eight
errors in his first 14 games of the year.
