The Georgia Series Georgia leads the all-time series
102-80 dating back to 1896. The Georgia series is Vanderbilt’s
third-oldest SEC baseball rivalry (Tennessee 1888, Alabama
1893). The Bulldogs swept the Commodores
VU at Home at Hawkins Before the 2002 season began
the team gathered a list of goals to accomplish during the
year, one of which stressed winning at home. The Commodores
are well on their way so far with a perfect 7-0 mark at Hawkins
Field. It’s Vanderbilt’s best start at home since beginning
the 1998 campaign with 12 straight wins at McGugin Field.
It’s also tied for the fifth-best home start in school history.
Ransom Could Make Return Against Georgia Vanderbilt
sophomore right-hander Robert Ransom could make his 2002 debut
in a relief role this weekend against Georgia. A 2001 Louisville
Slugger/Collegiate Baseball Honorable Mention Freshman All-American
last season, Ransom has sat out the early portion of the 2002
season recovering from summer shoulder surgery.
