Hawkins' Heroes
Like Harry Carey always said, nothing beats fun at the
old ball park. There is nothing more American than sitting
in the stands of a baseball game with a hot dog in one hand
and a cold drink in the other. Vandy's newest student organization,
Hawkins' Heroes, is going to create this fun baseball
atmosphere for Commodore fans at Hawkins Field.
The
Student Government Association, along with the help of the
Athletic Department and first-year Head Coach Tim Corbin,
is sponsoring this new fan group. Hawkins' Heroes will get
the ultimate Vandy Baseball experience this season:
watching the Commodores roll through the SEC with a bunch
of other wild fans, enjoying a pre-season barbecue with
players and coaches, and donning Commodores' game hats
in the Hawkins field bleachers. Hawkins' Heroes will also
get the inside scoop on Vanderbilt Baseball and opposing
teams, giving them the firepower to get inside opponents'
heads as Vandy's 10th man.
Commodore
players and fans are excited about the intensity Coach Corbin
is bringing to Vanderbilt's Baseball program, and Corbin is
excited about the atmosphere that Hawkins' Heroes will bring
to his team, making Hawkins' Field one of the toughest
and most hostile baseball environments in the SEC. Heroes
will attend 12 required games with flexibility on weekend
series. Required games include SEC powerhouses Florida, LSU
and Auburn as well as in-state rival Lipscomb. Heroes will
also meet the team and coaching staff at a BBQ dinner before
the season begins.
If you are ready to get fired up about Commodore Baseball
and want to help make Hawkins Field a great baseball atmosphere,
then you are perfect for Hawkins' Heroes.
