Brazil is one of the most naturally diverse countries in the Western Hemisphere. It is home to beaches, the Amazon, and major cities such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Not only is Brazil the largest country in Latin America, it is gaining ground as a major global player. Its economy is now ranked as the fifth largest in the world and it is host to the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016. While Brazil is famous for its Samba and futebol, it has complex political, social and economic histories whose legacies are still felt.
