Latin America in a Global and Historical Context

In July 2007 CLAIS held its first ever on-campus professional development institute for teachers.  The institute, Latin America in a Global and Historical Context, was a great success and a valuable experience for all involved.  Prof. Frank Robinson directed the program and over the course of  five-days provided participants with a detailed introduction to various aspects of Latin American history.  Professors Jane Landers and Marshall Eakin also gave presentations on their particular areas of expertise.

Participants consisted of fourteen middle and high school teachers from throughout Middle Tennessee.  The group was highly engaged and approached each topic with enthusiasm.  Each teacher received free curriculum materials in the form of books and audio-visual materials, as well as professional development credit.
