Teaching at Vanderbilt, An Orientation for New Faculty

Center for Teaching
1114 19th Avenue, 3rd Floor

At the beginning of every academic year, the Office of the Provost and the Center for Teaching host “Teaching at Vanderbilt,” an orientation for junior and senior faculty new to Vanderbilt.

This year’s event will inaugurate the Center for Teaching’s new space in a building adjacent to the Peabody campus and in proximity to the Commons.  We’ll highlight this space by inviting participants to move—at their choosing—through a series of stations where they’ll interact with experienced Vanderbilt faculty and administrators as well as CFT staff to explore topics such as:

  • teaching with technology
  • engaging students on the first day of class
  • using classroom space in innovative ways.

Additionally, all participants will hear from the Associate Provost for Faculty about the role of teaching in the review, promotion, and tenure process at Vanderbilt.

Look back here at the end of July 2008 for more specific information about the event.  In the meantime, new faculty are encouraged to explore the Center for Teaching's web site, including the resources for faculty new to Vanderbilt.
