Tutoring Services will be closed for Thanksgiving Break but will reopen on Sunday, November 29th.
Tutoring Services offers assistance to students who wish to enhance their academic performance in classes offered by the College of Arts and Sciences in the following departments: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, and a number of Foreign Languages. Services are free of charge.
Students are encouraged to work primarily with their professors and TAs to keep on top of their studies. There is no substitute for developing a strong working relationship among students, professors, and TAs.
As a secondary resource, students can try the Help Desks offered by various departments. Click on a department below to see a schedule of its Help Desk support. These Desks are the fastest way to receive support outside of professorial and TA help, for they typically run on a generous schedule. Note: Engineering offers Help Desks for all students, not just engineering students, in many Science and Math classes. So be sure to click on the Engineering link, and not just the individual Departments, for details.
As yet a further resource, students can request and schedule individual tutoring, but we first encourage using professor and TA office hours, as well as trying out the various Help Desks, since these direct forms of academic support are usually very helpful. To schedule an individual tutoring appointment, see the individual tutoring section below, with its link to our online scheduler.

We highly recommend these Help Desks, since not only are they typically the fastest way to obtain support but they provide generous regular opportunities to work with an instructor, TA, or tutor on one's homework, assignments, and general abilities. They are organized by and take place in the sponsoring department, and are staffed by graduate teaching assistants and advanced, screened undergraduates. There is no charge for these sessions. Click on the following for information:
» PHYSICS
» FOREIGN LANGUAGES
» ENGINEERING (including the School of Engineering's generous Help Desk schedule for various Math and Science courses. These Help Desks are open to all students.)
Individual Tutoring is available on a limited basis to support students enrolled in classes offered by the departments listed above. Tutors are advanced undergraduates or graduate students who have been identified and recommended by their departments and trained by Tutoring Services. Individual tutoring takes place in the Central Library, the Payne Room, 6th Floor North on an appointment-basis. Although students are not charged for this service, each student is limited to seven sessions of tutoring per class per semester and to no more than 2 sessions in a class per week . Please remember these limits over the semester and schedule your sessions wisely. Please schedule far in advance since near test-times our office sees surges in requests among a limited number of (busy) tutors.

Support for Writing is offered by the Writing Studio, an independent academic unit of the College of Arts and Science.
