Quick Start
Finding Job Postings
A job posting is basically an announcement that a company has an open position. The posting may include the preferred or required (what they would like or what they have to have) education, experience or skills.
The first step to applying for a job is to compare what you have to offer to what they want. It doesn't have to be a 100% match, but you should determine if you are a competitive candidate. The posting will help you determine how to write your resume and cover letter and potential interview questions that might be asked.
Postings can be found on VCC cluster listservs and on CareerLink where employers can post positions and schedule interviews with students on campus. To interview with employers on campus for internships and full time opportunities, you must have a CareerLink account, upload your resume and have it approved.
Company websites, aggregator sites like www.indeed.com and www.simplyhired, industry specific (i.e. engineering, healthcare, non-profit) sites, college specific sites like www.collegegrad.com also have opportunities posted.
