Job Postings

Professional opportunities can be found on VCC Career Cluster listservs (after you subscribe) and on DoreWays where employers can post positions and schedule interviews with students on campus. To interview with employers on campus for internships and full time opportunities, you must have a DoreWays account, upload your resume and have it approved.

A student searches for job postings online

A job posting is basically an announcement that a company has an open position. The posting may include the preferred or required (what they would like or what they have to have) education, experience or skills.

The first step to applying for a job is to compare what you have to offer to what they want. It doesn't have to be a 100% match, but you should determine if you are a competitive candidate. The posting will help you determine how to write your resume and cover letter and potential interview questions that might be asked.

TIP: Networking can turn up better leads

Its true! Networking with friends and family will help you discover more and sometimes better opportunities than searching for postings online. Learn more about networking...
