NACELINK Jobs on CareerLink
The Vanderbilt Career Center (VCC) uses CareerLink as a database that connects employers and students for employment opportunities. Some job postings in this system are imported from NACELINK, a national recruiting networking alliance that includes the National Association of Colleges and Employers, DirectEmployers Association, and Symplicity Corporation.
Due Diligence
The VCC does not screen or censor the listings offered through NACELINK and performs minimal due diligence in screening those employers that post directly through the VCC. As a result, the VCC makes no representations about positions listed on its website or within CareerLink and is not responsible for the safety, wages, working conditions, or other aspects of employment. It is the student’s responsibility to take the necessary precautions when interviewing or accepting positions, and he/she is responsible for obtaining necessary information concerning the employer.
Oversight
The Vanderbilt Career Center abides by the principles set forth by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and expects employers who use its services to adhere to EEO guidelines and abide by the VCC Non Discrimination Policy.
Website Links
The Career Center website contains links to other websites as a convenience for its users and is not responsible for the contents of any linked site. Anyone who discovers misuse, abuse, or other problems with our website is encouraged to report the matter to the VCC at careercenter@vanderbilt.edu.

Employer Recruiting Policies
back to topStudents, faculty, and staff at Vanderbilt University commit themselves to honor the Vanderbilt Community Creed uniting the Vanderbilt community in a common set of values: scholarship, honesty, civility, accountability, caring, discovery, and celebration. The Vanderbilt Career Center (VCC) embraces these values and has established the following recruiting policies. We believe these recruiting policies will facilitate positive engagement between students and employers.
EMPLOYER POLICIES
Employer Eligibility
The VCC works with employers posting professional opportunities. Our office does not engage in connecting students with summer opportunities such as camps, study or work abroad, business-oriented educational programs, and other summer education programs unless they are a Vanderbilt University Campus Partner.
Non-Discrimination Policy
The Vanderbilt Career Center’s policy is to promote employment of its students and graduates with no discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, military service, sexual orientation or disability. The VCC facilities are available only to those employers whose practices are consistent with this policy, as well as all applicable laws and regulations governing employment discrimination.
Full-time offers from Summer Internships
If you are participating in Fall 2008/Spring 2009 On Campus Interviewing and you have made offers to students at the end of their summer internships, we ask that you allow students until Friday, October 17, 2008 to make their decisions. We feel that this date allows students time to participate in the first few weeks of On Campus Interviewing and early Fall Industry Career Days. This time period is suggested to give students sufficient time to explore opportunities and make sound decisions resulting in a more committed hire for you.
Second Round Interview Policy
Every effort should be made to accommodate candidates’ class and interview schedules. The following are the minimum considerations that we request be made:
Fall 2008
- We ask that you conduct second-round interviews outside the Nashville area after October 17, 2008
- We encourage you to give at least 72 hours notice if asking students to leave the Nashville area after October 17, 2008
Spring 2009
- We ask that you conduct second-round interviews outside the Nashville area after Feb 6, 2009
Offers to 2009 Graduating Students during Fall Recruiting
If you are participating in Fall 2008 On Campus Interviewing and you make offers of employment to students graduating in 2009, we ask that you allow these students a minimum of three (3) weeks from the time of the offer to make their decisions.
Cancellation of Interviewing on Campus
If you need to cancel a recruiting schedule, we request that you communicate this information directly to students. We will assist in this process but believe that such communication is more appropriate coming from you in order to maintain your organization’s credibility in the minds of students.
Cancellation of Information Sessions
The VCC requests that companies canceling information sessions provide 72 hours notice. You will be reimbursed your information session fee. With less than 72 hours notice, we will be unable to reimburse the information session fee.
Alcohol Policy
The VCC adheres to the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) policy, which states that the serving of alcohol should not be a part of the recruitment process. Therefore, all recruiting activities, including the information sessions, should be alcohol-free.
Student On Campus Interviewing Policies
back to topSTUDENT POLICIES
Upon entering Vanderbilt University as a student, you committed to honor the Vanderbilt Community Creed and engage in behavior that reflects a common set of values: scholarship, honesty, civility, accountability, caring, discovery, and celebration. The Vanderbilt Career Center embraces these values and has established the following recruiting policies to facilitate positive engagement between students and employers.
Student Eligibility
The following students and alumni are eligible to participate in On Campus Interviewing:
- All currently enrolled Vanderbilt undergraduate students
- Graduate students in the College of Arts & Science, Blair School of Music, the School of Engineering, and Peabody College
- Alumni who graduated May or August 2008 are eligible for Fall 2008 On Campus Recruiting
- Owen Master of Finance and those Master of Business Administration students who have been identified by OWEN as seeking their first full time opportunity
"No Show" Policy
Not attending a scheduled interview or canceling at the last minute for a reason other than health or an emergency, does not support the value of accountability. This behavior reflects negatively on the institution and is disrespectful to the employer who has committed time and money to meet with you. Additionally, it reflects a lack of care on your part for your fellow students who may have wanted to interview.
There is a window of opportunity on all schedules in which you may cancel or reschedule an interview. However, all schedules are frozen one full business day before the interview day and no cancellations or schedule changes are allowed (other than emergency/health). For interviews occurring on Monday, the schedule is frozen Friday morning.
If you are experiencing an emergency or health situation, we encourage you to contact the Career Center as soon as your situation allows. The Career Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Students should communicate emergencies to the recruiting staff by email or phone. A recruiting staff member will follow up with you on your situation.

Career Center Front Desk: 615-322-2750
Students who violate the "No Show" Policy
If you choose to not attend a scheduled interview or cancel at the last minute:
- Your access to CareerLink will be Restricted. While on the "Restricted" status, you will not be allowed to apply to any more positions nor sign up on schedules for which you have been accepted to interview. Therefore, your prompt attention in this matter is to your advantage.
- In order to have the "Full Access" status returned, you must arrange a meeting with the Recruiting Team Lead, at which time the necessary actions to reinstate your "Full Access" status will be discussed.
- Missing a second interview without canceling ahead of time will result in permanent suspension of recruiting privileges. You will not be able to participate in any on-campus recruiting, which includes access to opportunities in CareerLink.
Second-Round Interview Policy
The VCC encourages employers to provide adequate lead time for you if you have been selected for a second-round interview outside of the Nashville area. Therefore, we require that you provide a minimum of 48 hours (2 business days) notice to cancel a first-round campus interview.
Students who cancel a first round-interview for a second-round interview giving less than 48 hours notice may be denied access to On-Campus Interviewing.
Re-neging on offers
As a general rule, if you have accepted an offer, and the employer has confirmed their offer, you should cease all job search activities. This is why it is very important to confirm, in writing, the employer’s job offer and your acceptance. If the employer makes a verbal offer, ask for confirmation in writing before ceasing your job search.
Once you have accepted a position, you have made a commitment to that employer. Should you choose not to honor that commitment, your decision will be viewed as both unprofessional and dishonest. Additionally, you will be doing a disservice to your peers as this action gives employers a negative perception of other Vanderbilt students. Employers who cannot successfully recruit at Vanderbilt will give other schools recruiting preference. This is especially true in a tight job market.
If you are offered a position and think you should accept for fear of not receiving other offers, make your decision very carefully. Do not accept an offer before you are ready. We encourage you to meet with a VCC Career Coach if you would like help with your decision-making process.
