Help us fill Birmingham with black and gold at bowl events

The Commodores are heading to Birmingham in January, and they need your support. We invite you to help us fill Birmingham with black and gold Jan. 2-4. Register now for the following Vanderbilt-sponsored bowl events. Please note that last year’s bowl events sold out, so we encourage you to register early.

Commodore Tailgate
When: 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Open to all fans (space limited to first 2,000 guests)
Register by Dec. 30

Come tailgate with Commodore fans before the game on the east side of Legion Field. The National Commodore Club and the Vanderbilt Alumni Association invite you to wear your black and gold and come early to soak up the game day atmosphere. A buffet will be served with soft drinks, tea, coffee and alcohol. Register now for $35 a person for adults, $10 for children 6-12, and free for children five and under.

If you register for the tailgate by Dec. 18, your tailgate tickets will be mailed Dec. 20. Another mailing of tailgate tickets will be sent Dec. 26. If you register after Dec. 26, you may pick up your tailgate tickets at the registration table on game day.

Dec. 8 – Bowl Announcement Celebration
When: 7:45 p.m. (Doors open at 6 p.m.)
Where: Student Life Center (map)

Commodore fans are invited to join Head Coach James Franklin and his Vanderbilt student-athletes for the team’s bowl announcement. This a free event where fans will have a chance to celebrate with Vanderbilt coaching staff and Commodore players. The Spirit of Gold Marching Band, and members of the Commodore cheer and dance squads also will be in attendance.

Fans can order their bowl game tickets at the event and ticket office representatives will be available to answer questions. Light refreshments will be served. Parking will be available in the 25th Avenue Garage located at the corner of 25th and Highland Avenue. More Information

Coach’s Call-in Show

Come listen to Coach James Franklin as he breaks down the upcoming matchup between the Commodores and Houston Cougars as you enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, tea and water. A cash bar will be available. Register now for $15 a person.

Open Practice
Vanderbilt football will be opening its football practice for the BBVA Compass Bowl to the public on Friday, January 3, 2014. Open practice details are listed below.

Guidelines:
We are currently in an NCAA Dead Period so the following rules must be observed:

  • All guests must observe practice from the bleachers or other designated areas.
  • Vanderbilt staff will NOT be able to have any communication with high school students or their family members. Communication with high school coaches may NOT involve talk about recruiting.

Street Fest and Pep Rally
When: 2-8 p.m.
Where: Five Points South

No ticket required, free and open to the public

The festivities will include a concert at 2p.m., the SEC pep rally at 5p.m. and a second concert at 6p.m.

Commodore Bowl Kickoff Celebration
When: 6-8 p.m.

Come celebrate the upcoming bowl game with a buffet and live entertainment. Following the SEC pep rally at 5p.m., the National Commodore Club and the Vanderbilt Alumni Association invite you join Commodore fans at Iron City Birmingham. A cash bar will be available. Register now for $25 a person for adults, $15 for children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and under.

If you register for the celebration by Dec. 18, your event tickets will be mailed Dec. 20. Another mailing of event tickets will be sent Dec. 26. If you register after Dec. 26, you may pick up your event tickets at the registration table on Jan. 3.

Travel with fellow Commodore fans to the 2013-14 bowl game!

UPDATE: Thank you to Vanderbilt fans for making plans to cheer on the Commodores in Birmingham. The official travel package with a one-night stay at the Westin Birmingham Downtown is sold out. If you are still interested in reserving a room at the Westin, you may contact Anthony Travel at (888) 632-6951 to be placed on a room wait list.

Vanderbilt and Anthony Travel have also teamed up to offer a game day bus trip from Nashville to Birmingham for $69. GAME DAY

The BBVA Compass Bowl will provide complimentary roundtrip shuttle bus transportation from the Sheraton Hotel, Hyatt Regency Wynfrey Hotel, Hilton Perimeter Park Hotel and The Marriott Hotel to Legion Field on game day. The Stadium shuttle buses will run from 8 a.m. til 5 p.m. on game day.

BOWL WEEK

Roundtrip shuttle bus transportation will also be provided to the Historic Five Points South entertainment district Tuesday through Saturday of Bowl Week. Daily routes and schedules will be available in the hotel lobby. Shuttle transportation will be available from Hyatt Regency Wynfrey and Sheraton Birmingham all five days. Shuttle transportation will only be available from The Marriott Birmingham and Hilton Perimeter Park Hotel on Friday and Saturday.

Tickets for the BBVA Compass Bowl are $55 including all fees. If you had a $10 bowl reservation deposit, it will be applied to your total ticket order. All tickets will be assigned by National Commodore Club Priority beginning no later than December 13.

Vanderbilt’s tickets will be located in Sections 37-41 on the East side of Legion Field, on the same sideline as the Commodores. View Seating Chart.

Please note: If you are or have been a Vanderbilt season ticket holder, single game buyer or NCC donor, a Ticketmaster account is already associated with your name and email. Priority Points Awarded

To thank those who reserve their bowl game tickets through the Vanderbilt allotment, the National Commodore Club will apply one bonus priority point for each bowl ticket reserved by December 13 (up to four priority points) to the priority point ranking of active NCC members. The National Commodore Club priority system is used to provide a systematic and fair process to prioritize ticketing, seating, and parking requests from donors to Vanderbilt Athletics. To learn more about joining the NCC, please visit NationalCommodoreClub.com. The bonus priority points will be added after the bowl game.

Ticket Priority

Bowl tickets will be assigned in the following order:

1) National Commodore Club Priority Order (see chart)
2) Football season ticket holders who are not NCC members
3) Season ticket holders in other sports who are not NCC members
4) General Public

Donate Tickets

Fans who are unable to attend the BBVA Compass Bowl can still do their part in helping the Commodores, while also assisting residents of Birmingham, by purchasing tickets through the Vanderbilt ticket office that will be donated to Birmingham-area nonprofits.

Those interested in ordering tickets to be donated are encouraged to call the Vanderbilt ticket office at 615-322-GOLD (4653).

Student Tickets

Student Tickets for the BBVA Compass Bowl are available by clicking here. Please be sure to select the “Student Ticket” option. Student tickets are $55 (including processing fees). All student tickets will be placed in a block together at the stadium but each student will be assigned a specific seat. Students can purchase up to 12 Bowl tickets.
