John W. Rich

John W. Rich, a trustee since 1988, becoming trustee emeritus in 2003, is a 1951 graduate of Vanderbilt University and the founder of Delta Coals, Incorporated. He serves as chairman of this Nashville-based business.

A former varsity football and baseball player, he received the Nashville Banner’s Commodore Award in 1984 in honor of his unfailing support of Vanderbilt athletics. He is a member of the Dean’s Council, the National Commodore Club, Blair Patrons, Owen Associates, and Friends of Children’s Hospital.

He and his wife, Norma, are the parents of David Tate, Amy Lucille, and John William.
