Frederick B. Rentschler

Frederick B. Rentschler earned his B.A. from Vanderbilt in 1961 and his M.B.A. from Harvard University in 1968, and was awarded an honorary J.D. from the University of Wyoming in 1999. He was elected to the Vanderbilt Board of Trust in 2003.

The former president and CEO of Northwest Airlines, Beatrice Co., Beatrice US Foods, and Hunt-Wesson, Inc., and the former president of Armour-Dial, Mr. Rentschler also served as deputy director of the White House Fellows Program and was a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 until 1965. Today, he owns and oversees the Corral Creek Ranch, a working cattle ranch in Cameron, Montana.

His previous board affiliations include Biometrics, Inc., Hamilton Foundry & Machine Company, Sibia Neurosciences, and Grocery Outlets, Inc. He also previously served on the boards of the Scottsdale Health Care System, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, the Heard Museum of Phoenix, Arizona, and the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California. He currently serves as an emeritus trustee of the Salk Institute and emeritus director of The Scottsdale Healthcare System and is a director of International Game Technology.

Mr. Rentschler’s involvement with Vanderbilt includes membership on the board of directors of the Alumni Association, and acting as area chairman of the Centennial Campaign and as national chairman for reunions and the annual fund. He also has served on the steering committee for the Campaign for Vanderbilt.

He and his wife, Pam, reside in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Cameron, Montana.
