William W. Featheringill William W. Featheringill graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1964 with a degree in mechanical engineering and then served two years with the U.S. Navy SEABEES in Okinawa, California, and Vietnam. After his Navy duty, he continued his education at Columbia University, receiving his law degree in 1969 and his M.B.A. in 1970. Mr. Featheringill then began his career in Birmingham in health care and health-care related industries. In 1973, he co-founded Private Capital Corporation in Birmingham. As president of the company, he has established and grown a number of successful companies, primarily in the areas of health care, biotechnology, information technology, and management systems. Among the awards received by Mr. Featheringill are CIO Magazine’s Enterprise Integration Award, the first Investor of the Year Award presented by the Birmingham Venture Club, and the John S. Jemison Jr. Venture Award given by the Birmingham Venture Club. He has served on the Vanderbilt Engineering Alumni Council, the National Committee of the Campaign for Vanderbilt, and presently serves as a Trustee on the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust. He also received the 2000 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering. Mr. Featheringill currently serves as chairman of Electronic Healthcare Systems Inc. and Momentum Business Solutions Inc; he serves as a director of BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Southern Research Institute. Active in his community, Mr. Featheringill is a member of the Samford University Board of Overseers, the Executive Committee of the Campaign for the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the Birmingham Rotary Club. He is a member of the Independent Presbyterian Church, having served on the board of the church’s ministry Kirkwood-by-the-River; he is also a member of the board of the Birmingham Museum of Art and chairman of the board of The Featheringill Foundation. He and his wife Carolyn are the parents of Elizabeth Pharo and grandparents of two.
