Bruce R. Evans Bruce R. Evans, elected as a Trustee in 2009, graduated from Vanderbilt with a B.E., magna cum laude, in Mechanical Engineering and Economics in 1981. He also received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in 1986. Mr. Evans is a Managing Director of Summit Partners, a private equity and venture capital firm that invests in growth companies. Summit has raised $11 billion in capital since inception and has offices in Boston, Palo Alto and London. Mr. Evans joined Summit in 1986. He is currently managing the firm’s venture capital business and its expansion into Asia and India. Mr. Evans has served as a director of 25 companies, including 10 public companies. In addition to being one of Summit Partners’ directors, he is currently a director of FleetCor Technologies (private), a provider of fleet credit cards and related services; IGEFI Group S.àr.l (private), a software provider to the investment funds industry; optionsXpress Holdings (NASDAQ: OXPS), an online stock and options broker; and Unica Corporation (NASDAQ: UNCA), a provider of enterprise marketing management software. From 2006 to 2009, he was a member of the Forbes Midas List, an annual ranking of the top 100 technology and life sciences investors in the venture capital industry. Mr. Evans served as a community member of Vanderbilt’s Board of Trust Investment Committee from 1998 to 2009. He is also a Trustee of The Roxbury Latin School and a member of the Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors. Additional Vanderbilt activities include serving as Fundraising Chair for the 2006 Class of ’81 Reunion, establishment of an honor scholarship with his wife, Bridgitt, and membership in the Lewis Society. The Evans’ and their four children reside in Boston.
