Bruce R. Evans

Bruce R. Evans, elected as a Trustee in 2009, graduated from Vanderbilt with a B.E., magna cum laude, in Mechanical Engineering and Economics in 1981.  He also received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in 1986.

Mr. Evans is a Managing Director of Summit Partners, a private equity and venture capital firm that invests in growth companies.  Summit has raised $11 billion in capital since inception and has offices in Boston, Palo Alto and London. Mr. Evans joined Summit in 1986.  He is Chairman of Summit’s Executive Committee and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.  Mr. Evans has served as a director of 27 companies, including 12 public companies. In addition to being one of Summit Partners’ directors, he is currently a director of Casa Systems, a provider of next generation cable network equipment; FleetCor Technologies (NYSE:FLT), a provider of fleet credit cards and related services; Multifonds, a software provider to the investment funds industry; Krishidhan Seeds Limited, a supplier of high quality hybrid seeds to farmers in India; and optionsXpress Holdings (NASDAQ: OXPS), an online stock and options broker. 

Mr. Evans served as a community member of Vanderbilt’s Board of Trust Investment Committee from 1998 to 2009. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Venture Capital Association, a Trustee of The Roxbury Latin School and a member of the Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors. Additional Vanderbilt activities include serving, currently, as Chair of the Vanderbilt Technology Transfer and Enterprise Development Advisory Committee, serving as Fundraising Chair for the 2006 Class of ’81 Reunion, establishment of an Engineering honor scholarship with his wife, Bridgitt, and membership in the Lewis Society.

The Evans and their four children reside in Boston.
