Claiborne P. Deming

Claiborne P. Deming, serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Murphy Oil Corporation, having been named to that position in October 1994. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and had served previously as President of Murphy Oil USA, Inc., a major operating subsidiary. He joined Murphy in 1979 as staff attorney and held numerous positions prior to his promotion to President of Murphy Oil USA in June 1989.
Mr. Deming graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976 and earned his juris doctorate in 1979 from Tulane University.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of Murphy Oil Corporation and served on the Board of Directors of the Entergy Corporation from 2002 to 2006. He was a member of the Arkansas State Board of Education from September 1999 to June 2002. Mr. Deming is the past President of the 25 Year Club of the Oil and Gas Industry and Vice Chairman of the National Petroleum Council. Mr. Deming is President of the El Dorado Education Foundation, past President of the South Arkansas Symphony and the United Way of Union County, and is a member of the Tulane Law School Board of Advisors as well as the A.B. Freeman School of Business of Tulane University Board of Advisors. He is a Director of the American Petroleum Institute and a member of the American Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association and Louisiana Bar Association.

He and his wife, Elaine, have four children.
