Vanderbilt University Concert Choir and Chamber Singers

The oldest musical organization at Vanderbilt, the Concert Choir is a large (80-100 voices) ensemble that performs a wide range of sacred and secular literature. The choir is connected to both the Office of Student Affairs and the Blair School of Music. There are at least two performances on campus each semester, as well as performances in the Nashville community. The choir makes an annual tour during spring break and sponsors a variety of social events. A small ensemble, the "Chamber Singers", is formed from the membership of the Concert Choir. Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester and consist of an informal vocal interview to determine the singer's vocal range, musical knowledge, and experience.

Vanderbilt Community Chorus

The Vanderbilt Community Chorus is comprised of faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university. The auditioned members of the chorus share a love of music and a commitment to excellence reflecting the passionate leadership of our musical director, Pamela Schneller. The chorus is fortunate to work with our exceptionally talented accompanist - Polly Brecht. Polly is organist/music associate at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Nashville. She holds degrees in piano and organ performance as well as the Performer's Certificate from Indiana University, and a doctorate in organ performance and a certificate in harpsichord from Florida State University. An active performer, Dr. Brecht has served on the faculties of Middle Tennessee State University and Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt.
