Susan DeMay

Susan DeMay’s long career of working in clay and many years of experimenting with form and electric-fired glazes have resulted in a wide repertoire of forms in clay that retain the distinctive look of their maker. The work, primarily limited to wall works and vessels, are most often intended for use as functional tabletop wares, though others explore themes and concepts found in painting, sculpture and the craft art of other mediums All her work employs rich, vividly colorful glazes with different satin-matte and glossy surfaces; a full palette of saturated colors demonstrate a deep involvement in glaze development.. Innovative application techniques have been employed to create unique motifs, storybook narratives, and expressive abstractions.
