Ron Porter

Ron Porter paints serene reflections on the often poetic but uncanny juxtapositions of ordinary images in unusual circumstances.

His work is in many public and private collections, including Fidelity Investments, the Tennessee State Museum, South Central Bell, Kaiser Permanente, Franklin University, Clarion University, TVA, the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, and the Vanderbilt University Eskind Biomedical Library. Two of his paintings were selected for the 2006 Art Saint Louis “New Works/Nine States” exhibition. His work was on loan to the NEA in Washington from 1998-2002. Ron delivered a lecture for the Vanderbilt Alumni Association at the Philadelphia Art Museum in 2005, and he was a panelist at the Frist Center for the Arts discussion “Art, Symmetry, and Perception” in 2002.

He has recently exhibited at the AAF Contemporary Art Fair (New York), a Tennessee State Museum traveling exhibition, the Hunter Museum of Art (Chattanooga), Art Fair International (Seattle), Vanderbilt, and numerous national competitions. His awards include Ohio Arts Council fellowships, and Best of Show and Juror’s Awards at national invitationals. Galleries have represented him in Chicago, Denver, Boston, and Columbus (Ohio). He is currently represented by Cumberland Gallery in Nashville.
